Faculty Governance

Faculty Governance at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte is led by the Faculty Council and is comprised of one elected voting member from each academic unit.  The Faculty Council is a policy making and consultative body, responsible for the quality of instruction and scholarship at the University as outlined by the Board of Trustees of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and the Board of Governors of the University of North Carolina.

Changes to the UNC Charlotte Faculty Constitution

Dear Colleagues, As you embark on a well-earned winter break, I want to share with you some news about faculty governance at UNC Charlotte. This year, Faculty Council is preparing to propose some changes to the structure of the faculty governance system. This will involve making changes to the Constitution and the Standing Rules of the Faculty, which require a balloting of the entire faculty. These changes will be presented to you in two stages.

Newly ammended UNC System policy on Post-Tenure Review

There is a newly ammended UNC System policy on Post-Tenure Review. For your information there are three documents attached here, all from the UNC Policy Manual. One is the policy itself; the second is the set of guidelines from General Administration about how campuses should implement the policy.

The Faculty Council will meet on September 25
August 28, 2014
The first Faculty Council meeting of academic year 2014-2015 will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2014, at 12:30 - 1:45 PM in Cameron 101. The deadline for placing items on the Faculty Council's agenda is approximately one month from the actual meeting date.  Since most items must also go through one of our faculty governance committees for their review and recommendations, the entire cycle should be considered in meeting your organization's needs.

University Convocation to be held August 19
July 15, 2014
The University Convocation will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at 9:30 a.m. in McKnight Hall of the Cone University Center. Preceding the Convocation from 9:00-9:30 a.m., faculty, staff, and students are invited to enjoy coffee and refreshments in the McKnight Hall lobby area.

2014-2015 Undergraduate and Graduate Catalogs Now Available Online
June 20, 2014
The new 2014-2015 Undergraduate and Graduate Catalogs are now available online. Be sure to check out the WHAT'S NEW THIS YEAR heading in the "Introduction to the Catalog" section of each catalog to see what new programs have been added or changes to existing programs have been made in the past year. 2014 also celebrates the 45th anniversary of UNC Charlotte offering graduate programs. (In 1969, the University first began offering programs leading to master’s degrees.)
