Summary

The Department of Biology is changing the number of credit hours for a graduate course, BIOL 6102 from 4 credits to 3 credits.  The course does not meet the criteria for a 4 credit course, since it lacks a laboratory component.

The Department of Biology is eliminating the prerequisite for BIOL 6102, currently CHEM 6101.  BIOL 6102 is cross-listed with BIOL 8102.  Earlier, eliminated the CHEM 6101 pre-requisite for BIOL 8102, but failed to make the same catalog change for BIOL 6102.  CHEM 6101 is not necessary for success in BIOL 6102 and the proposed change will make the chemistry pre-requisites for BIOL 6102 consistent with those for 8102.

The changes were approved unanimously by the Biology Graduate Faculty on Sept. 26, 2011.
