GEOG 5215. Urban Ecology. (3) Cross-listed as GEOG 4215. An introduction to the emerging field of urban ecology. This course will explore the biological, physical, and social components of the urban ecosystem at local, regional, and global scales. Emphasis on the interplay among components and the sustainability of cities. One three-hour lecture per week. (Spring)

GEOG 5216. Landscape Ecology. (3) Cross-listed as GEOG 4216. An introduction to landscape ecology, the study of the effects of spatial pattern on ecological processes. Emphasis on the application of broad temporal and spatial perspectives to solving global environmental problems. One three-hour lecture per week. (Spring)
