INTL 3161. Migration and Borders in a Global World. (3) Cross-listed as GEOG 3161. Even as globalization promises a world of increasing flows, borders -and their most visible manifestation as fences - are on the rise. This course focuses on the dynamics of diversifying flows of people with the multiplication of borders within and beyond countries. It will explore key policy debates such as: the relationship between migration and development; increased demand for migrant workers; the upswing in migrant detention and deportation; and the Right to Freedom of Movement.
