Minor in Islamic Studies

The interdisciplinary Minor in Islamic Studies is designed to allow students to develop an understanding of Islamic culture, history, philosophy, and religion, and to appreciate the role of Islamic traditions in the development of world civilizations.

The minor requires the completion of 18 hours, including 9 hours in designated core courses. The remaining courses should be chosen in consultation with the student's advisor in order to best reflect his/her academic interests. Though it is not a requirement, minors are strongly urged to begin gaining proficiency in Arabic. Up to 6 hours of Arabic may be counted toward the minor.
