Children's Literature Concentration

This concentration is premised on the assumptions that children's literature is an integral part of many literary traditions and that students studying children's literature should develop an understanding of the connection between children's literature and other forms of literature. The Children’s Literature Concentration requires a total of 36 hours with courses meeting the following requirements: ENGL 6101 (Introduction to English Studies) and ENGL 6160 (Introduction to the English Language) which are required of all English MA students; Students

will take ENGL 6103 (Introduction to Children’s Literature and Culture); 12 additional hours in children’s literature (selected from the list below); two courses in literature (other than children’s literature), two one courses in writing/rhetoric, and six hours of electives to bring the total number of hours to thirty-six.
