The Gerontology Program requires a minimum of 36 credit hours of graduate coursework.  Students have a choice of completing a thesis or an applied project.  Students completing a thesis complete 21 hours of core courses, 6 hours of thesis, and 9 hours of electives.  Students completing an applied project complete 21 hours of core courses, 3 hours of applied projects, and 12 hours of electives.

Note:  Originally some students took two 3-credit thesis courses, which is why the catalogue stated 3 or 6 hours.  It is “cleaner” if all students register for one 6-hour thesis as they can continue to work on it for more than one semester by using the IP (in progress) option.
